By Nora M. Greenway

You can decrease your blood pressure and improve your health by eating foods that taste great. Add in a 30 minute workout everyday and you will be well on your way to reversing your high blood pressure.

Foods That Improve Blood Pressure

The foods that we are talking about are actually quite delicious foods. They will do a great job at improving your health. If you have high blood pressure it means that the amount of pressure in your heart is very high. This could be due to heart disease. When you eat foods that are high in antioxidants the pressure levels will come down due to improved circulation. That is because antioxidants help to remove free radicals from the body.

Although you can find antioxidants in a supplement form, the best way to consume antioxidants is by adding certain foods to your daily diet. Here are some suggestions:

* Berries, especially blueberries, have a high antioxidant level in them. These foods work well at removing the free radicals in your cells. By removing those free radicals, your cells can work more effectively at doing their job. Add berries to your diet as a snack or an addition to your breakfast.

* Eat whole grains in the form of cereals and breads. Whole grains are much better for you than breads made with white flour.

* Did you think potatoes would be on the list? Potatoes have a high level of potassium and magnesium in them. Those minerals help to regulate and lower blood pressure. Based on some research, consuming baked (not fried) potatoes can help to reduce your blood pressure numbers by as much as 10 percent.

Other foods that are good for you include dark chocolate, celery, cold water fish and leafy greens. Consider adding any of these foods to your diet on a regular basis and you will see improvements in your health overall. Keep in mind that every situation is different. To continue to boost heart health and to lower blood pressure, consider taking a supplement containing CoQ10, garlic or Hawthorne. These are known to improve blood pressure, too.
